Magic sand pit

A new extraction at Scotney has been drawing in multiple wader species. It is quite easy to see around 15 different waders in a visit there at the moment. From left to right, this image shows a Green Sandpiper, a juvenile Ruff and two Little Stints.

Uncommon species have included Wood Sandpiper (in this image) and Curlew Sandpiper, as well as the even rarer Pectoral Sandpiper and Temminck's Stint

The concentration of waders has attracted raptors, like this Merlin, as well as Hobby and Sparrowhawk
