Birds, butterflies and foxgloves at Cocking Down

Just some highlights from a recent walk, loosely along the South Downs Way at Cocking. It's a lovely area of Sussex to go looking for birds, butterflies and plants —with the bonus of the Flint Barn Cafe just by the car park!

A Hobby dashes through

There were swathes of glorious Foxgloves and avian highlights included a lightning-fast Hobby, a singing Tree Pipit, and several Firecrests and Goldcrests singing.

A riot of Foxgloves!

Painted Lady butterflies stole the show when it came to lepidoptera, with several bathing in the evening sun along the track as I headed back.

Goldcrest - always moving!
