Earlier this month we were delighted to put together a short afternoon tour of Pulborough Brooks RSPB for Mike's 83rd birthday with several members of his family... Mike had one particular species on his wish list: Bullfinch.
Team Bucknell were a joy to bird with. Bullfinch was our main target species for the afternoon. We heard one to start with, but it didn't show.
This Treecreeper gleaned the branches right by the path.
Snipe were lurking in the margins from the hides.
We didn't see any eagles this time, but this fly-over Goshawk more than made up for it!
As we headed back, this male Bullfinch (part of a pair) fed quietly in the blackthorns for long enough to get it in the telescope for everybody! How special to track them down for Mike's birthday!
